The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. It is the easiest of the 4 C's to determine. A carat is a standard metric weight of 0.2 grams and is divided into 100 points. Just like 100 pennies equals one dollar, a stone weighing 75 points equals 75/100 of a carat. It is also important to note that even though a large diamond is impressive in size, it may not always be more valuable than a smaller one because diamonds are not judged by weight alone. Weight is always relative to the other factors and each of the 4 C's must always be considered in equal proportions to the diamond's carat weight.
